Gaming La Kour

Designing a gaming culture for Réunion.

A living visual world for a local gaming community — built through identity, illustration, events and the formats that meet around play.

CONTEXT / ROLE / CONSTRAINT

The problem behind the surface.

01 / CONTEXT

Gaming La Kour is a long-running design-leadership chapter rooted in Réunion. The work connects a central community identity with tournaments, streams, partnerships and formats that each need their own energy.

02 / CONSTRAINT

The system has to stay recognisable while moving across very different games, audiences and community moments. It cannot feel like one static esports badge applied everywhere.

03 / MY CONTRIBUTION

I lead the visual direction, build the illustration language and shape identities for the main platform and its satellite projects, giving each format its own character without losing the wider Gaming La Kour world.

01 / MAIN IDENTITY

A recognisable home for a local gaming community.

The central banner and flame wordmark establish an energetic world without reducing the community to a generic esports badge. They give streams, events and partnerships a clear point of origin.

02

The flame wordmark is the compact anchor of the wider visual world.

03 / STREAMING & EVENTS

The system changes pace with the format.

Streaming and game-specific events require more immediate signals than the central identity. Dedicated illustrations keep the content specific while the line, palette and energy preserve continuity.

04 / SUB-IDENTITIES

Distinct voices, held by the same cultural direction.

La Pousse and Kings of Ping show how a satellite format can become recognisable in its own right without looking detached from Gaming La Kour.

KEY DECISIONS

Clarity came from choosing what the system should do.

  1. 01

Build a cast, not a mascot

A flexible family of illustrated characters lets the identity show play, friendship, competition and everyday community life.

  2. 02

Give each format its own voice

Tournament and partner identities can shift in rhythm and lettering while keeping the same saturated palette and hand-drawn energy.

  3. 03

    Design for a living community

The system is made to keep growing through streams, physical events, teams and new games instead of resolving into one fixed campaign.

WHAT THIS MAKES VISIBLE

A recognisable cultural system that can hold many gaming identities while remaining local, warm and alive.
